Sexual wellbeing
Some conversations are worth having.
A straightforward way to start talking about desire, comfort, intimacy, and changes in your sexual health.
General education. A starting point for a conversation with a qualified clinician.
Sexual wellbeing is part of your health.
Sexual health is relevant to women and men across different life stages. It includes more than sexual performance: intimacy, comfort, desire, and emotional wellbeing can all be part of the picture. Health conditions, medicines, and concerns about infections or pregnancy may affect the experience. [1]
You can ask for help with a specific concern without having to label it first.
Start with one clear sentence.
You do not need medical language. For example:
- “My level of desire has changed, and I’d like to understand why.”
- “Sex has become uncomfortable.”
- “I’m having difficulty getting or keeping an erection.”
- “This is affecting how I feel about intimacy.”
Choose the words that describe your experience. You can write them down and bring the note to your appointment.
Expect a conversation about the wider picture.
A clinician may ask when a concern began, how often it happens, and what has changed in your health or medicines. For erection concerns, assessment can include medical, sexual, and emotional history, an examination, and sometimes tests. A questionnaire does not replace every part of that process. [2]
For frequent or severe pain during sex, arrange an assessment with an appropriate healthcare professional. You do not need to push through pain. [3]
Choose a next step that fits your concern.
Ask what might explain the change, whether an examination or tests would help, and what follow-up could involve. You can also ask how the service handles privacy and what an appointment costs.
Norviva is developing a broader sexual-wellbeing category. Our current intake preview covers erection concerns only; it is not a general assessment for desire, pain, or other sexual-health needs. Clinical consultations are not yet available through Norviva.
